The new Delaware Welcome Center Travel Plaza is part of the 2008 award of a 35-year contract with the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) to redevelop and operate the Delaware Service Plaza. The company has operated the food and retail concessions at the Delaware Service Plaza under a previous contract since 1963.  

Beginning in Summer 2010, HMSHost will stagger the openings, delivering the Sunoco gas station and the APlus convenience store first, to be followed by food and retail offerings.
