Airport Travelers Become Artists with Holiday Mural Painting Pop-Ups
HMSHost invites airport travelers to paint their layovers away with local artists
BETHESDA, Md. (December 3, 2018) – Holidays at the airport: Delays, long lines, security, and…interactive mural paintings? This holiday travel season, global restaurateur HMSHost invites travelers to be a part of a masterpiece in the airport. HMSHost’s Art of Holiday Travel – A Mural Painting Pop-Up Series commissioned local artists to sketch murals and invites travelers to join in on the fun and help paint the works of art inside select U.S. airports.
“Our focus is on enhancing the travel guest experience while connecting with the local community, and the Art of Holiday Travel does just that. Studies show creative activity, regardless of artistic talent, lessens stress,” said HMSHost Vice President of Marketing and Communications Atousa Ghoreichi. “With the craziness holiday travel can bring, our interactive mural painting pop-ups will be a unique airport experience.”
Each large-scale mural is different based on designs by local artists that reflect a regionally inspired theme of holiday travel. At each airport, the artist will kick-off painting, but then travelers take control of the paint brushes to let their inner artist take flight and add their own artistic touches to the mural, illustrating what holiday travel means to them. The artists will be on-hand to guide and offer tips to travelers as they paint. Once completed, the murals will then be donated to local community partners focused on supporting youth in need.
As part of the Art of Holiday Travel pop-up events, travelers can enjoy complimentary holiday drinks and sweet treats as they paint inside the terminal. Travelers that paint will also enjoy holiday-themed giveaways, as well as discounts at HMSHost restaurants to add extra cheer and delight to their travel experience.
The mural painting pop-ups are set to take place at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport December 15, Miami International Airport December 4, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport December 13.
