ATLANTA, GA – Global restaurateur HMSHost and celebrity chef Lorena Garcia are joining together to entice travelers with an exotic, new culinary experience at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Today they celebrated together the grand opening of the first ever Lorena Garcia Tapas in an airport. The new restaurant is located post-security in the Concourse F Mezzanine of the International Terminal.

“Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is proud to welcome Lorena Garcia Tapas to our airport,” said Louis Miller, Aviation general manager. “The collaboration between Chef Lorena Garcia and HMSHost has resulted in a unique and outstanding restaurant that Hartsfield-Jackson travelers are sure to enjoy.”

For her first full service airport restaurant, Chef Garcia has created a flavor-packed menu specifically for airport travelers that offers a variety of her signature tapas dishes. Menu highlights include Mango Glazed Chicken Wings, Turkey Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Goat Cheese, Roasted Portobello Mushroom Sliders and a Citrus Chicken Marinated Avocado Wrap, in addition to an extensive wine list, beers from around the world and premium cocktails. Guests are sure to embrace this tranquil and refreshing oasis in the airport.

The opening of Lorena Garcia Tapas marks the second partnership between HMSHost and Chef Garcia. In 2011, the pair worked together to open LorenaGARCIA Cocina, which offers customers a diverse menu of healthy snacks and sandwiches designed for the Bacardi Mojito Bar at Miami International Airport.

“After successfully entering the airport restaurant arena with the opening of LorenaGARCIA Cocina at Miami International Airport, I was extremely excited to work with HMSHost again on the opening of Lorena Garcia Tapas at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” said Chef Lorena Garcia. “I am very proud of this restaurant and the variety of tapas dishes that we’ve created specifically for this location.”

“We are pleased to continue our tradition of excellent restaurants at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Anthony Alessi. “We are always excited to work with the amazing people at Hartsfield-Jackson, and working with a world-class chef like Lorena Garcia has been an absolute honor.”

HMSHost has provided first-rate customer service to Hartsfield-Jackson travelers since 1994. The company employs 1,160 associates at the airport and continues to help improve the experience of everyone traveling through Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Venezuelan-born restaurateur, TV personality, TV producer, philanthropist and published author Lorena Garcia is currently one of the country’s leading chefs, well known for numerous TV series, a successful chain of restaurants, and cookbooks. Garcia left the legal world behind her and enrolled at Johnson & Wales University, graduating with a Bachelors degree in culinary arts and more recently received an honorary doctorate degree in culinary arts. Garcia created “Big Chef, Little Chef” as a comprehensive non-profit program to help children and their families take control of their eating habits and, ultimately, their lives.
