HMSHost Launches Pokémon Go Program to Interact with Travelers

Game features integrated into airport and motorway dining locations, offering travelers virtual reality entertainment on the go

BETHESDA, MD – With the augmented reality Pokémon Go mobile gaming phenomenon sweeping the nation and beyond, global restaurateur HMSHost is now expanding the fun for travelers. Elements of the game, like Pokéstops, have been identified at many of HMSHost’s 2,000+ dining locations, making them ideal spaces to support players.

This new smartphone game, which has captured the attention of millions across the world with its map-based concept has turned into a cultural sensation. It’s safe to say that the majority of bystanders have encountered committed players of the game hunting these fantasy creatures in virtually every crevice of the earth—meandering the streets, gallivanting in public parks, and of course exploring airports with phones gripped tightly in pursuit of all 145 currently existing characters.

To cater to fans of the whimsical game HMSHost will be launching a Lure program in strategic locations across the country, dropping Lures within its airport and motorway restaurants that attract more Pokémon to the area for guests to catch. HMSHost is also engaging its local associates in 50 markets across the country who will serve as “Pokémon Leads” to activate game-related promotions at a local level. This includes dropping Lures, offering refresh and recharge stations to players, and other game tactics.

HMSHost always strives to tailor the overall guest experience to make it more unique and enjoyable for the traveler, with innovative initiatives such as Channel Your Inner Chef and Airport Restaurant Month. Whether that may be in terms of culinary, comfort, or convenience, HMSHost makes it a priority to ensure travelers are feeling good on the move—in this case, working together to help guests who “gotta catch ‘em all!”

Although having fun is encouraged in HMSHost restaurants, guests are advised to always be mindful of their own safety and the safety of other during their travels.
