About Hugo’s Cocina

James Beard Award Winner Chef Hugo Ortega founded Hugo’s restaurant in Houston’s Montrose area in 2002 where it quickly became part of the city’s culinary spirit. Now, Hugo’s Cocina, operated by HMSHost, has introduced the same exciting and earthy flavors of Mexico to George Bush Intercontinental Airport with a menu that features traditional dishes from its many regions paired with an impressive tequila list.

Food

With a world-class menu that reflects the vibrant and complex flavors of regional Mexican cuisine, Hugo’s Cocina features dishes like the tacos de pescado estilo Baja (Baja style fish tacos), torta aguacate honogo y queso (Mexican sandwich with sautéed mushrooms and Oaxacan cheese), and the camarones encamisados (bacon-wrapped shrimp with cheese and jalapeño).

Beverage

Connoisseurs will revel in the hand-shaken margaritas and broad spirits list with blanco, reposado, anejo, and extra anejo tequilas, as well as mezcal varieties. The menu also features an array of wine and cocktail options.

Chef Hugo Ortega

Hugo Ortega is executive chef/co-owner of four of Houston’s top restaurants and winner of Best Chef: Southwest at the 2017 James Beard Foundation Awards. Passionate about sharing the traditional foods and culture of his native Mexico with diners, he opened the critically acclaimed Hugo’s streetside location in 2002, which brought authentic regional Mexican cuisine to the forefront of dining.
