HMSHost's Philip Fletcher Recognized as One of D.C. Area's Top Legal Professionals

Fletcher named the winner of the Outstanding Paraprofessional award at the WMACCA 2013 Corporate Counsel Awards

BETHESDA, MD – As part of last week’s 2013 Corporate Counsel Awards, hosted by the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA), Philip Fletcher, Legal Assistant and Contract Administrator at HMSHost, was awarded the Outstanding Paraprofessional award. Philip is one of the area’s secret treasures, as not only is he an award-winning law professional, but also an award-winning actor, showing off an uncanny ability to excel in both worlds. While many individuals would be overwhelmed with the hectic schedule of two successful careers, Philip has thrived and continues to make an impact on those around him every day. HMSHost is known around the world as a global restaurateur, but much of that success wouldn’t be possible without the tireless work of individuals like Philip Fletcher.

“Philip has been a major part of the HMSHost legal team for the past eight years and we couldn’t be more proud that he is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to the company and the legal field,” said HMSHost Executive Vice President and General Counsel Paul Mamalian. “What is truly amazing is that all throughout the work that Philip has been able to accomplish in this very busy year, his attitude and demeanor have never been anything but upbeat and positive. He keeps the rest of the team going in tough times and is such an amazing asset to the organization.”

Over the past year, Philip has been an integral part in developing and instituting HMSHost’s new online contract management system, LAWTRAC. Philip worked on all facets of the demanding project, including testing various scanners for the initial scanning of over 50,000 pages of documents to developing a hierarchy for inputting documents to make sure that all relevant documents were linked. Philip also developed a training manual to assist others with inputting new documents into the system. While that would be enough to take up all the hours of the day for many people, Philip also played a key role in assisting with a recent major corporate transaction, providing due diligence documents and on-going access to documents throughout the process.

Philip’s accomplishments don’t stop there. In the evenings he becomes an award-winning actor, currently performing onstage with Synetic Theater Company. He was recognized with the shared Favorite Ensemble Audience Choice Award by D.C. Theater Scene, has been nominated for Helen Hayes Awards for lead and supporting roles, has received several shared Helen Hayes Awards for Outstanding Ensemble, and was awarded Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2008 for his role as a Witch in Macbeth.
