HMSHost Expands Norton Sound Seafood House Full Service Dining to Pre- Security at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport

ANCHORAGE, AK – Alaskan traveler favorite, Norton Sound Seafood House, at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport has expanded its post-security, full-service dining experience to now serve pre-security guests as well. While Norton Sound Seafood House’s primary seating area has been located post-security, and the restaurant has always served the pre-security area through a connected to-go option, now, global restaurateur HMSHost, the restaurant’s operator, has expanded the pre-security area with a brand new dining room and bar, which offers the same menu and full-service dining that are found in the post-security area.

HMSHost, Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) and the airport celebrated Norton Sound’s upgrades on Friday afternoon, with a celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the new dining area on Concourse C. The event was part of the airport’s “Alaskan Cultural Experience” that included a variety of special activities and demonstrations. The new pre-security area seats approximately 40 guests.

“Anchorage airport is often the beginning leg of the journey for many Alaskan travelers, and the final destination for those visiting our great state, which is why we are so pleased about the expansion and updates HMSHost has made at Norton Sound Seafood House,” said Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Manager John Parrott. “Our partners and contributors have done a magnificent job of enhancing the sense of place regarding Alaskan culture in our airport.”

The Norton Sound Seafood House is well-known for its NSEDC-sourced, locally-caught seafood, but now the expanded restaurant will place an even stronger emphasis on featuring seasonally-available fish on the menu, with menu updates made multiple times throughout the year.

“We are excited to provide travelers with an Alaskan dining experience with seafood straight from the waters of the Norton Sound,” said NSEDC Communications Director Laureli Kinneen. “Continually modifying the menu with seasonally-caught salmon, halibut and crab will ensure travelers continue to have access to sustainably caught seafood from some of the most unique fisheries in the world.”

“In Alaska, fisheries and seafood are historic and important parts of local culture, and it is very exciting that at Norton Sound Seafood House we are able to deliver that iconic culture to travelers in the form of great dishes,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation has been a great partner in ensuring the best seafood and cultural experience is available to travelers at Anchorage International Airport.”

During the airport’s “Alaskan Cultural Experience” events, new paintings representing the Native groups of Alaska were unveiled, as well as a new “wall of culture” near the baggage claim area. Event guests enjoyed demonstrations by the Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Alaska State Council on the Arts, including Native dance and crafts.
