HMSHost Recognized with Awards for Best New Local Concept and Best New National Brand by Airports Council International-North America

Kapnos Taverna and P.F. Chang’s, operated by HMSHost, receive prestigious industry recognition

BETHESDA, MD — Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) has recognized global restaurateur HMSHost through the Excellence in Airport Concessions Awards with Best New Local Concept for Kapnos Taverna at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Best New National Brand for P.F. Chang’s at Tampa International Airport.

“HMSHost is thrilled to be recognized by ACI-NA for excellence in our food & beverage offerings,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson. “We’d like to thank our airport partners and industry peers for this prestigious recognition, and most of all, we thank our associates, whose dedication to excellent customer service has made these awards possible.”

Kapnos Taverna, operated by HMSHost in partnership with DC local celebrity chef Mike Isabella, provides a look toward the Aegean Sea with its coastal Greek inspired menu, exuding an expansiveness and freshness that travelers crave in the midst of airport chaos. Chef Isabella showcases his culinary alchemy through a tightly focused gallery of small plates known as mezze in Greek. The ambiance breathes a warm, energetic vibe, with touches of teal and blue lending a distinctive feel of coastal Greece.

P.F. Chang’s, operated by HMSHost in Tampa International Airport, is a popular national brand influenced by a “Farm-to-Wok” philosophy, embodied by daily scratch cooking of purposeful recipes made with clean ingredients, while holding the highest respect for the power of a fiery wok. P.F. Chang’s at Tampa Airport welomes travelers in a relaxing setting, complete with its signature towering horse statue at the restaurant’s entrance, and a menu of well loved favorites such as the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Mongolian Beef, and Kung Pao Chicken.

Many airport partners were also recognized for programs in which HMSHost operates including Boston Logan International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Edmonton International Airport, Los Angeles World Airports, Portland International Airport, Sacramento International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport.

“We’d like to congratulate all of our airport partners whose food & beverage programs were also recognized,” said Johnson, “and we look forward to another year of working together to continuously elevate the traveler experience.”

The ACI-NA Excellence in Concessions Contest inspires creativity in the airport industry and recognizes innovative and outstanding airport concessions. The awards were announced during an awards gala dinner at the 2017 ACI-NA Business of Airports Conference in Palm Springs, CA.
