HMSHost Cio Sarah Naqvi Recognized as Finalist for Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Office

BETHESDA, MD — Global restaurateur HMSHost is proud to announce that the company’s CIO Sarah Naqvi has been named a finalist for Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer of the Year by Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), as part of its 26th Annual Industry Awards. TCM is the largest technology trade association in Maryland, and is a collaborative community that is actively engaged in building strong technology and life science industries by supporting the efforts of its individual members.

“We could not be more proud of Sarah and her accomplishments as CIO,” said Tom Fricke, President and CEO of HMSHost. “She continuously enhances the company’s operations through her innovative technology solutions, and I’m so pleased that she is being recognized among her peers for her accomplishments.”

Sarah Naqvi oversees all Information Systems for HMSHost in North America, leading continuous advancements in information technology and customer service as the company focuses on developing solutions that drive efficiencies and enhance the traveler experience.

Within her first year of taking on the role of CIO in 2013, Sarah has redesigned the company’s network to increase standardization and drive business continuance, placed a foundation for business intelligence by expanding the scope of the data-warehouse, and improved infrastructure stability by implementing HMSHost’s very own Network Operations Center (NOC). She also increased server virtualization from 11% to 94% in the last 12 months.

With the implementation of the NOC, HMSHost has been able to thwart threats and better manage its global environments, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars and moving support from a responsive to a proactive model.

Sarah has been instrumental in implementing the appropriate technology to grow the business through standardization, unified infrastructures and by maximizing resources.
Tech Council of Maryland will hold an awards celebration on May 15th at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in honor the individuals and organizations that are making a positive impact in the community, both today and in the future.
