HMSHost Opens ACC American Café at Piedmont Triad International Airport

Collegiate sports and top travel restaurateur connect in ACC hometown

GREENSBORO, NC — The new ACC American Café by global restaurateur HMSHost, in partnership with OHM Concession Group, is now open at Piedmont Triad International Airport and showcasing the spirit of the Atlantic Coast Conference for travelers to this college sports hub. The grand opening was celebrated today by the ACC, the airport, and HMSHost. Travelers can find this new dining option in the airport’s South Concourse.

“HMSHost is very excited to open the ACC American Café with our partners OHM, ACC and Piedmont Triad International Airport. PTI is truly an ideal location to feature the ACC and the legendary college sports they represent,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Developmen

ACC American Café features a special menu of classic and new American dishes made with tastefully selected ingredients that make for an eating experience that’s a cut above the standard sports bar. Food is fuel for athletes as well as travelers at ACC American Café and every recipe was created by HMSHost with a focus on incorporating healthy ingredients for every menu item. Menu highlights like the chopped kale salad, blackened salmon, and Miami style ceviche are specifically heart healthy while the quinoa stuffed portabello, black & blue steak roasted flatbread, and the Carolina pulled pork sandwich are also available to sate hungry collegiate sports fans and food-loving travelers.

“The Piedmont Triad is proud to be the host for so many ACC events,” said Airport Authority Chairman Steve Showfety. “The airport is committed to putting our best foot forward for visitors to these events and for all of our passengers. The ACC American Café allows us to take our offerings up another notch.”

“We’re proud to extend our partnership with HMSHost in opening another ACC American Café at the Piedmont Triad International Airport,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “This initiative directly benefits the league’s student-athletes through an annual contribution to the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship fund. The ACC was founded in Greensboro in 1953, and we appreciate the relationship between our league and this great city.”

HMSHost, as part of this collaboration, will also make an annual contribution to the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to select student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements.

The opening of ACC American Café also marks a milestone for HMSHost. In less than a year, the dining choices at Piedmont Triad International Airport have been completely transformed as HMSHost has completed the conversion and opening of six new dining spaces, including PGA TOUR Grill, The Great American Bagel, The Local @ GSO, the airport’s first two Starbucks® stores, and ACC American Café.

In 2014 HMSHost partnered with the Atlantic Coast Conference on the first ACC American Café, located in Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
